Royal British Legion Show
Saturday September 2nd, Village Hall

This will be held in Wormingford Village Hall on Saturday 2nd September at 2.30 pm. Schedules, which include the rules and the entry forms, are available from the Village Shop.
For the information of newcomers to the village I should point out that exhibits will not just be fruit, vegetables and flowers as you would expect but there will be classes for cookery, handicrafts, photographs, wine and flower arranging, plus a children's section. Please have a go!
In any case come along to see the displays, have a cup of tea and take part in the auction of produce.
We look forward to seeing you.

September Club

Many thanks to all of you who supported our Bring & Buy Sale at the Sports Pavilion on 20th May. The event was very successful.

On 14th June club members plus friends from the West Bergholt Club went by coach to the Butchers Arms at Knodishall to visit Carol and Peter Cook. It was lovely seeing them again. Peter had had another operation but is on the mend. Carol produced a super lunch for us. They have a very attractive pub and are doing well. We can recommend a visit and Carol and Peter would be pleased to see Wormingfordians.

Audrey Pells.

A big thank you to all

Thanks to all who generously contributed towards Owie's memorial bench. Total collections from the village amounted to just under £300, which enabled us to have a bench made of high quality wood which will withstand all kinds of weather.

The bench will be mounted on a concrete base overlooking the sports field that Owie loved and spent so much of his time on the tractor mowing and keeping it tidy for us, a sight that we all miss so much.

Thanks again for your generosity, and thanks to John and Jackie for letting us use the shop as a collecting point, also a big thank you to John Snowling and Neville Clark for making all the arrangements and doing all the ground work involved. The sand and cement was kindly donated by local builder Allie Hall.

Thank you all

Marcia Hearn

PS Also at this point I think our thanks should go to John Snowling for trying to carry on with Owie's good work in keeping our field mowed and maintained. John is not retired so he must be finding it hard to fit this in. But John, Like his friend Owie before him, will just carry on regardless, not expecting any gratitude. Well, we are grateful John, and I'm sure I can speak for the whole village when I say your hard work is appreciated. Having said that I'm sure you wouldn't mind if anybody else in the village who could drive a tractor and had a bit of time to spare would like to have a go. I wouldn't mind having a try myself but I'm afraid my driving skills leave a lot to be desired and we could possibly end up with a gaping hole in the village hall or half a pavilion so I'd better keep off but if anyone with a better sense of direction could spare some time, just talk to John. Let's keep our field looking lovely in Owie's memory. Thanks again.
