Glug glug . . .

Yup - the wettest October since records began (in 1968) and the third wettest month on record. In November 1970 John Jackson our weather man recorded 6.09 inches, and in June 1997, 5.73 inches. And is it over yet? At the time of writing it has only just stopped bucketing down and more is forecast. Fortunately the Worm lives on top of the hill, so we are still able to bring you the news!

To whom it may concern -

I'd like to thank the small-minded person that reported my husband for working on his own vehicles, outside his own home. All the hard work I have done along with the doctors for the past 9 ½ years since his illness started has been undone by your petty underhandedness.

Wormingford Football Club

The Committee and the players would like to thank the following for their sponsorship during this season - Jackie and John from the Post Ofice, Mick from the Crown Inn, Peter Hollingsworth, and Martin Childs, director of JAVELINE PROMOTIONS. With their help we have been able to obtain our new kit which will be unveiled on 28th October, plus match balls and practice balls.

The Club would like to encourage more local people to join in. We have already got a lot of local players. We only run one team which is in the Ke-Connect League on Saturdays, so why don't you pop along and watch, like a few do now, and maybe enjoy a drink with us afterwards in the bar in the Pavilion.

Finally, a big thank you to John Snowling for his tireless work on the pitch. It's a real treat to play on such a well prepared pitch week in and week out.

Friends of Essex Churches Cycle Ride

This year the intrepid riders of Wormingford have raised a truly amazing total of £1115. Well done to all concerned, especially those beyond retiring age!!

Half of this sum will come back to the PCC for the costs of the church. The other half goes to the friends of Essex Churches for their magnificent efforts to preserve the herigate of our lovely ancient churches.

Thank you to all who took part, who manned the church to receive the visiting cyclists and who sponsored the riders. A great effort all round.

Anthony Stamp, Parish Organiser
