Billie and Donald Easten celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary and Jean and Ken Smith celebrate their Ruby Wedding Anniversary this August.

John Dunn passed away on 2nd July. A funeral service was held in the Village Church on Tuesday 10th July. During the service tributes were given by Steve Archer, a close colleague of John's and by Rob Wightman on behalf of family and friends.

It was wonderful to see so many people attending the service including family, close friends, friends from the village, from work and from overseas.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all our friends and neighbours for all their help, support and kindness over the months during John's illness and more recently since his death. Although we are not locals everyone has always made us feel very welcome and that Wormingford was a special place we could call home; it has most certainly felt that.

We also collected £1733 in donations in John's memory which will be split between the District Nursing Team and Robert Tiffany Ward at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

. . . to Michael Garbi, who sadly is giving up his tenancy of The Crown on September 5th. Trade this year has been particularly badly hit by the effect of foot and mouth on the numbers of visitors to the countryside. Michael has done a lot as landlord both to the pub and for the village and it’s a great shame that he has had to give up the pub. We wish him well in whatever he plans next.

To mark his going, he will be selling cut price drinks on September 1st. Everyone is welcome.
